Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease. It manifests by red surface areas with white flakes and peeling off. The flakes sometimes tend to form deposits and when torn off by force, the spot may even bleed slightly.

Complete and permanent recovery from psoriasis is not possible; however there are a number of methods helping "contain" the disease. Classical methods include phototherapy with special radiators, balneotherapy and treatment with special preparations. Patient's healthy lifestyle is also of a great importance.

In addition to common forms of treatment, we also use carboxytherapy within dermatology at GHC Clinic Prague. This method consists in the injection application of a small amount of carbon dioxide in the skin. It is a natural way of treatment, because carbon dioxide is one of the respiratory gases and is normally present in our body even in large amounts.

Depending on the illness activity, the treatment should be performed once or twice a week. The total number of sessions is usually 10 – 20. An effect is usually noticeable after four treatments; in order to maintain the state, intervals can gradually be extended until disappearing. For more extensive symptoms, a carbonic bath provided by the Physiotherapy Department is more suitable.
