Periodontics – gum recession

Gum recession is a disease of attachment apparatus and even though it can be successfully avoided it is one of the most widespread diseases.

Attachment apparatus (paradox) is a complex of tissues surrounding a tooth. It is made of the jaw bone, gum, ligaments and cement on the surface of the tooth root. Paradox anchors the tooth in the jaw bone and thus it significantly determines the correct tooth's function.

Gum bleeding should be a clear sign to see the dental expert. The examination is quite simple and it is not a burden for the patient. Except for evaluating the tissues and related structures by sight, special instruments are used for examining the space between the gum and the tooth. A supplementary examination is an X-ray examination.
