Male circumcision

Male circumcision is a small surgical intervention during which a foreskin (prepuce - partially retracted skin that covers the glans penis) is removed. The glans penis remains permanently uncovered after this intervention.

Approximately one quarter of men in the world are circumcised. However, the percentage significantly varies in individual parts and countries of the world.
The reasons for circumcision are religious (Judaism, Islam), health, hygienic, or exceptionally even aesthetical reasons.

The most frequent medical indication:

Phimosis and paraphimosis - frequent inherent defect of narrow foreskin, which can't be fully retracted from the glans of the penis at all (phimosis) or problems, which lead to strangling of the glans by the foreskin (paraphimosis).

Operation of penis foreskin ("circumcision")

Initial consultation and agreement between the client and the physician on the extent of the operation is necessary before the operation. It is possible to reduce the foreskin:

partially

completely

It is carried out as an ambulant surgery operation or with one-day hospitalisation. It is performed under short general anaesthesia or regional anaesthesia and it takes approximately 1 hour.

Other treatment and post-operative regime is determined after a detailed consultation with the physician after the operation; there are usually one or two post-operative examinations.

Further options of surgery:

Frenuloplasty - surgical solution (cutting with subsequent sutura) of short frenulum in the area of foreskin.

It is usually performed under local anaesthetic and after that the patient goes home. In most cases it appears with first sexual contacts, when the patient notices pain or problems during intercourse.

Operation of hydrocele - surgical solution of hydrocele in scrotum

The operation is in most cases carried out under general anaesthesia and the patient must be hospitalized for several days. The patient mostly comes to the physician with gradual unpainful enlarging of scrotum and the related problems. Sometimes, patient comes even after several years of problems. It appears mostly on one side, but sometimes on both sides as well.

Operation of spermatocele - surgical solution - removal of a cystic formation in the area of epididymis. The intervention is mostly performed under general anaesthesia and is connected with short-term stay of the patient in bed. The patient usually finds by touch a formation in his scrotum, which is unpainful. It usually appears in the upper part and may look like a "third testicle".
