Surgical treatment for snoring

Current studies show that snoring can be not only socially bothering, but can also represent health risks. Snoring is not an illness but a cosmetic defect. However, in some cases it might be a more serious defect, the sleep apnea syndrome which leads to the cessation of breath while sleeping. This may manifest by headaches, morning sleepiness, excessive sleeping during the day, memory lapses and high blood pressure.

Problems with snoring and cessation of breath are mostly solved with a laser surgery on the soft palate (LAUP) or by lamt the nose with laser (LAMT).

Specialists in the GHC Clinic Prague usually perform the surgery under local anaesthesia, mostly on outpatient basis. During the surgery, a new palate, including the uvula, is created; subsequent healing then leads to their strengthening. The resulting effect, which can be assessed after several weeks, is usually good and long-lasting.
