Allergology

Allergology is a study of the body’s hypersensitivity to certain substances from the environment (allergens) that that cause an increased production of an antibody. This leads to the discharge of a larger amount of histamine, which is a substance responsible for actual allergy symptoms.

Most common symptoms include hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis, allergically based bronchial asthma, various skin rashes and eczema. Inhaled allergens present in the air are the most common – grass, herb and tree pollens, mites, moulds or animal allergens. Common food allergens include eggs, nuts, milk, wheat flour, root vegetables, tomatoes, soya, fish and various kinds of fruit. Substances transmitted by insect bites or stings (wasp, bee, hornet, chiggers) may cause strong allergic reactions. Allergic reactions are also often triggered by drugs, such as antibiotics.

How does the treatment work?

GHC Clinic Prague offers a unique comprehensive laboratory allergologic examination without the necessity to undergo skin tests.

First we will determine your complete blood count with differential white blood cell count, determine total IgE antibody, and examine the level of IgE against different allergens, thus identifying your allergies. Alternatively, we can perform skin tests which record and evaluate actual reaction to the injection of common allergens.

Based on findings, special individual treatment is determined – medication or infusion therapy.
