Dietology
Dietology is a study of nutrition with respect to current and long-term state of health.
Dietology deals with rules of healthy diet, recommending the proportion and quantity of different nutrients. Observing these rules represents basic prevention, particularly in case of cardiovascular diseases.
Knowledge of the metabolism of basic nutrients and their metabolic cycles enable us to determine targeted dietologic measures concerning nutrition and life regimen for particular diseases, such as gout, osteoporosis or liver diseases.
Dietology at GHC Clinic Prague
General diet recommendations are usually followed by nutrition consultancy. Dietology also includes supplementing the body with missing elements or compounds through dietary supplements. In some diseases, administration of natural substances in the form of dietary supplements may be an alternative to drugs.
Thanks to a number of studies concerning the mechanism of aging, there are now many dietary supplements intervening in the oxidative stress mechanism and inhibiting aging, such as carotenes, transition metals and sterols. These nutritional supplements intervene in the biochemistry of free radicals and may only be prescribed by a specialist.
GHC Clinic Prague provides targeted diet consultancy based on biochemical findings. If these dietary recommendations are followed in the long-term, they represent the most natural and most effective disease prevention.
