GHC Clinic is an accredited facility providing the EEG BIOFEEDBACK
EEG BIOFEEDBACK
is a modern method that effectively helps with attention and concentration disorders, with specific learning disorders, hyperactivity, ADHD/ADD and others.
What is the principle of EEG Biofeedback method?
Principle of the method is the normalization of the patient's electroencephalography record through an interactive virtual PC game. However, the child does not press any buttons since they control the game with their brain.
The method is based on the discovery of the Sensory Motor Rhythm (SMR) is an oscillatory part of the EEG spectrum which is directly associated with the learning process and without which our brain is not able to fully capture and sort incoming information. This deficiency is then manifested by a number of clinical mental symptoms, such as concentration disorders, hyperactivity, ADHD/ADD, sleep disorders, migraines and tension headaches, as well as by serious somatic problems, such as incontinency, dyspeptic difficulties, higher blood pressure, etc.
What happens during the session?
During therapeutic sessions, the patient is watching a PC game in a relaxed state while EEG from specific areas of their brain hemispheres is continuously recorded, and the therapist working on another PC determines, based on the player's success, electric difficulty of the performance of a specific brain centre responsible for correct solution of the task. Both computers are interconnected so that impulses of the desirable SMR rhythm subsequently reward the patient with points. In fact, it is direct education of the central nervous system through feedback. One session usually takes about 60 minutes and should be repeated at least twice a week, with a total of 20 to 30 sessions, depending on the type of problems.
What are advantages of the therapy?
An advantage of this therapy is undoubtedly the fact that it is non-invasive, does not use any drugs and, in addition, children are interested in the game and enjoy playing it. The method has virtually no risks and achieved results are permanent.
