During the initial consultation with the client the doctor discusses the size and shape of the breast desired by the operation. Pre-operative breast check-up before the breast augmentation is important and it is recommended for all women undergoing augmentation. Ultrasound is sufficient for women under the age of thirty breast sonography, for older women an X-ray mammography - is needed. The size of implants should be in harmony with the shape and size of the chest and should look natural. A natural appearance depends on the height of breasts, their width and distance from the centre of the chest. Certainly, it is possible to model almost any type of breast, but the larger the implants, the faster the skin gets flabby. Breast plastic surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. Hospitalisation is recommended for 1-2 days. Typically antibiotics are given before and after the operation as prevention since a foreign element is placed in the body. The method of inserting and placing your implant depends on your anatomic disposition and the plastic surgeons recommendations. The implant may be placed by incision beneath the breast in the normal fold of skin, or in the armpit, or it may be in the pigmented area surrounding the nipple. A pocket is formed where the implant is inserted.
