Otoplasty, the cosmetic surgery of ears, solves the problematic appearance of external ears (size or shape).  The auricles, their shape and structure are a very complicated body organ and at the same time very important for the overall facial expression - like eyes, nose or lips. During cosmetic surgery on ears we aim to achieve the most natural shape. At the same time we alter the height, width and angle of the ear. Solving deviations from the ear normal position is the most common procedure, such as bringing the ears closer to the head with possible reshaping and size reduction. Surgically large auricles can be reduced, either the whole one or its parts (for example large earlobes), stretched earlobes or earlobes with deep folds and lines. A common operation (for example ear pinning) takes on average one hour. A complicated operation (for example reshaping deformed ears, natural or after an accident) can take much longer. The main, and often only incision, is behind the ear for the most common operations, i.e. ear pinning. The resulting scar is very insignificant and concealed from normal view. If the wrong position of external ears is connected with shape deformities, cartilage is also remodelled.
