Breast modelling

Breast modelling or mammaplasty is an operation improving breasts' shape. Undesirable changes mostly occur after giving birth and breastfeeding, but also after substantial weight reduction or due to aging.

Why breast modelling?

If you have large, asymmetrical or too sagging breasts, modelling is right for you. Its purpose is to lift the breasts up, make them firmer and improve their shape. Principle of the intervention is improving the shape of sagging breasts by removing excessive skin, lifting up the areola and nipple and placing the newly shaped breast in a desirable place on the chest.

How does the operation work?

Before the actual breast modelling, our surgeon will carefully discuss your idea with you and suggest a method most suitable for you with respect to the surgery goals and your particular situation – breast shape and size, skin quality or other operations in the breast area.

Typically, the surgeon will take photographs from front and side perspective and from half-profile. He will also measure your breasts and, depending on your age and family anamnesis, he will recommend mammography (X-ray) or ultrasound examination of your breasts.

Excessive skin is removed by mammaplasty and breast modelling. When reducing the breast volume, part of the mammary gland is reduced as well. Resulting scars remain around the areola, going vertically down to the line below breast and along this line.

Breast modelling is performed under general anaesthesia in one- or two-day hospitalization.

What happens after the surgery?

Duration of the surgery is usually from two to four hours. Accompanying symptoms may include bruises, swelling, discomfort, numbness, over-dry skin, permanent little scars.

Return to normal activity is possible after two to three weeks, full physical activity after four weeks; scars fade out in a few months. Stitches are removed after 6 –14 days; pressure massage is performed daily after three weeks of the operation. Clients are recommended to use hydrating body lotion, particularly on the skin around the operated area, and special underwear, every day for 14 days. Later at least 12 hours a day until full stabilization is achieved, which usually takes two to three months.

Breast modelling is usually not performed before 18 years of age, with the only exception of serious health complications.
