Ear plastic surgery
Outstanding auricles are a relatively common congenital defect. Thanks to its specialists, GHC Clinic Prague can solve this aesthetical problem.
Why ear surgery?
Ear surgery or otoplasty is an operation of outstanding or deformed external ears. It can be performed after their growth has finished, which is approximately after six years of age. Thanks to ear surgery, lots of people have been able to cope with their handicap that had worried them for many years.
How does the procedure work?
The incision is led in the crease behind the auricle. The resulting scar is very inconspicuous and will not be visible. After loosening the skin, the surgeon models the cartilage and eventually tightens auricles to the head with stitches.
The entire ear surgery takes 1 - 1.5 hours and is performed under local anaesthesia. Upon request, patients can also receive light general anaesthesia. The operation is performed as outpatient or with one-day hospitalization.
What happens after the surgery?
- After the operation, clients need to apply a special modelling bandage on their ears for at least two weeks
- For another month, external ears have to be protected with a headband
- The appearance of scars depends on individual healing
- Return to normal activity is possible after two to three days
