Eyelid plastic surgery

Eyes are usually the first thing you notice about a person. But it is eyes where signs of aging become noticeable very early. This is because this area is functionally very exposed. The skin thus loses its elasticity, begins to sag and unsightly excessive skin forms. It can fall over the eyelids down to eyelashes, and the entire face gives tired, exhausted and sad impression.

Why is aging visible in the eye area?

Features, hereditary disposition, skin type, as well as allergies, kidney diseases, overall lifestyle, and last but not least, age play their role.

Swollen eyelids and "eye bags" are caused by so-called fat prolapses – i.e. fat pouches pushing out of the eye socket through a thin membrane into the eyelid area.

How to return a fresh appearance to your eyes?

GHC Clinic Prague offers a solution to this problem – eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty. Thanks to it, you will appear much younger and fresher!

Doctors recommend performing the eyelid plastic surgery as early as possible, because results are then significantly better and with a longer-lasting effect.

How does the procedure work?

The upper eyelids surgery consists in the removal of excessive skin, sometimes also the muscle, and removal of fat pouches, if they are distinct.

The lower eyelids surgery consists mainly in the removal of fat pouches and tightening of the circular eye muscle.

The operation usually takes one to two hours, and is performed under local or general anaesthesia.

What happens after the operation?

Bruises, swelling, numbness, itching, reddening, permanent little scars in the upper eyelid crease or under the edge of lower eyelid may temporarily occur after the eyelid surgery.

Return to normal activity is usually possible after four to seven days; swelling completely subsides in up to several weeks.

The operation is always preceded by a consultation with the specialist who will perform it. He will be happy to explain to you all details and answer your questions.
