Face and neck plastic surgery (facelift)

Face and neck plastic surgery or facelift is an operation aiming at tightening face and neck skin, thus reducing some symptoms of skin ageing.

Why facelift?

If you suffer from noticeable facial lines going along your nose all the way to the corners of your mouth, sagging skin on your face and neck, then face and neck plastic surgery or facelift is a solution.

How does the operation work?

Facelift is usually performed under general anaesthesia. Surgical incision is led closely in front of the auricle, around the ear lobe, behind the ear and along the hairline. Principle of the intervention is the removal of excessive skin from the temple area of your face and neck. Facial surgery may be combined with some other interventions improving the facial expression, such as eyelid or forehead surgery.

What happens after the operation?

Temporary bruises, swelling, numbness, skin tension and itching, feeling of pinching, over-dry skin, increased hair loss and permanent scars may occur, as well as receding of facial hair in men which can, however, be subsequently corrected by a depilation laser at the GHC Clinic Prague.

Return to normal activity is usually possible two to three weeks after the operation, physical activity after three to four weeks. It is absolutely necessary to avoid chemical hair colouring for six to eight weeks; face tanning is not recommended for three to four months.
