Prevention is not only the foundation of good health but has also become a trend of modern people who know its value and want to actively participate in preventing diseases potentially threatening them. 

Men insured with VZP now have a unique opportunity to do something extra for themselves and their body – to maintain good health, avoid many diseases and health complications, improve the quality of life and extend their life expectancy.

You can participate in our unique pilot project of preventive care for men, called “Way to Men’s Health”, which is carried out by our facility GHC Genetics s.r.o. in cooperation with General Health Insurance Company (Všeobecná zdravotní pojišťovna ČR).

The project’s goal is to analyze genetic dispositions to many serious diseases and, based on the findings, to recommend necessary regular check-ups, prevention or treatment. Results of the genetic testing are most beneficial for each participating man, but their anonymous statistical processing will also produce an extensive scientific study on genetic dispositions of Czech men. Results of this study will be presented at specialized conferences and in Czech and international specialized periodicals. 800 men over 18 years of age will be examined within this study.

The genetic analysis will particularly focus on dispositions to so-called diseases of civilization, which are typical for men:

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES:

myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, hypertension (high blood pressure)

TUMOUR DISEASES:

prostate cancer

METABOLIC DISORDERS:

type 2 diabetes, obesity,

osteoporosis (bone rarefaction and fragility)

At the same time, body’s detoxification and reparation capacity with respect to harmful substances from the environment, particularly alcohol and smoking, will be assessed.

After completion of the genetic analysis, the client will receive an extensive report on personal predictive analysis (more than 50 pages) assessing their genetic risks, as well as risks arising from their family anamnesis or lifestyle.

Based on these findings, a clinical geneticist will determine an optimal preventive solution for your body and recommend measures to maintain your health and eliminate any serious health risks. The analysis also includes a detailed personal consultation of your results with a clinical geneticist.

This unique project is financed from GHC Genetics’ funds designated for scientific purposes and from resources of VZP ČR (General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic).
