Plexr

Diagnosis, treatment and prevention / Dermatology

What is a Plexr

Plexr is a Radio Frequency device intended for minimally invasive procedures. The treatment brings about mild smoothing and contraction of the skin surface.

Who is a good candidate for the treatment

The treatment by the Plexr device is used to perform non-surgical correction of droopy eyelids (without incision and subsequent scarring) and forehead, to reduce wrinkles (wrinkles around the lips and the eyes, mid-forehead wrinkles) or to remove some minor benign formations on the skin (xanthomata, small fibrous growths, small haemangioma etc.). The procedure can also be used in the treatment of some types of scars.

Before the Procedure

If you consider treatment by the Plexr device, it is always necessary to undergo an initial consultation with a physician, unless you are a regular client of the GHC Dermatology Department. The dermatologist will examine you, evaluate the indication for the filler application and the skin condition, hear your expectations, recommend the most suitable course of action and suggest treatment alternatives, if available.

How is the treatment by the Plexr device performed

The procedure is performed on a cleansed skin in the dermatology surgery office after local anaesthesia by a numbing cream. During the treatment by the Plexr device, radio frequency causes the skin surface to “vaporise” dot by dot, which stimulates the restructuring of collagen, contraction and smoothing. Progressively, the device dots the entire treated area. Plexr is slightly more intense than Accent Pixel. The procedure takes a little longer and is particularly suitable for smaller areas where attention to detail is required – e.g. the eye area.

After the procedure

The treatment should result in a gentle smoothing of the treated area in the case of the eyelids (or the forehead) and in reduced sagging. This improvement occurs in the process of the restructuring of collagen in the skin during in the period of 1 – 3 months after the treatment. However, the level of achieved improvement varies and persists on a case-by case basis. Depending on the genetic influences and lifestyle, the duration of the effect may range from 6 months to about 5 years and longer. The effect is visible already after one treatment and tends to be sufficient already after one treatment. Depending on the area and the satisfaction of the client, the treatment by the Plexr device may be repeated, e.g. once a year or less often.

After the procedure, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure. If staying in the sun is necessary, it should always be short and always after the application of a sunscreen with SPF 50 for 3 months after the treatment preferably. It is advisable not to put on make-up until the scabs fall off. However, if necessary, it can already be used within 24 hours. The make-up should be removed carefully to avoid scraping off the scabs. Compresses are not permitted after the treatment. Rinsing with cold water is allowed in the evening on the day of the procedure already, but it is better to wait until the next morning. During the sleep, prop up your head to prevent further swelling. Exercise or swimming may be recommended 10 days after the procedure preferably. Professional cosmetic treatment is suitable rather a month after the procedure or later.
