What is Accent

The Accent device provides contact non-invasive radiofrequency. The purpose of the procedure consists is the mild smoothing and firming up of the skin of the treated site, i.e. the rejuvemation of the site in question. At the same time, the treated area is shaped by means of a special dual-layer thermotherapeutic process. The device operates on the basis of gradual heating aimed at firming up and contouring both in terms of surface and volume.

Who is a good candidate for the treatment

Accent is intended for the rejuvenation of the skin of the face, décolletage or abdomen. Mild firming of the area also occurs. The method can also have a positive impact on the treatment of facial acne; it also helps improving certain types of acne scars (i.e. saucer shaped acne scars).

Before the treatment

If you consider a treatment by the Accent device, it is always necessary to undergo an initial consultation with a physician, unless you are a regular client of the GHC Dermatology or Plastic Surgery Department. The physician will examine you, evaluate the indication for the treatment and the skin condition, hear your expectations, recommend the most suitable course of action and suggest treatment alternatives, if available.

How is the treatment by the Accent device performed

The procedure is performed in the dermatology surgery office without local anaesthesia. After the application of a massage oil on the treated (and cleansed) area, the physician performs the treatment itself: a “massage” by a flat hand piece tip which generates radio frequency. Radio frequency causes water molecules in the tissue to oscillate; as a result, the tissue heats up about 1 cm deep. This temperature rise causes an activation of metabolism in the area in question and ultimately a response of collagen, which begins to restructure and firm up.

Because the treatment is non-invasive and the onset of the effect is progressive, for a full effect, a total of 3 – 5 sessions are usually required; usually one session per month (exceptionally even sooner if time constraints of the client do not allow a normal pace of the programme).

After the procedure

Immediately after the application, the treated site may turn reddish. This disappears 30 minutes after the procedure. Slight swelling can be observed that gradually disappears within 1 week or less. These symptoms subside spontaneously and they do not require treatment. There is no need to follow any special post-procedure care.
