What is vibratory liposuction of arms

Liposuction or suction of fat is a procedure, during which adipose depots are removed from problematic areas. It is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. At GHC, we use MicroAire vibratory liposuction which ranks among the three types of state-of-the art liposuction techniques, along with laser and ultrasound liposuction. However, unlike vibratory liposuction, they involve a risk of burns because the tip of the cannula becomes hot during the procedure. Vibratory liposuction does not involve such a risk.

Advantages of vibratory tumescent liposuction:

  • Shorter surgery and recovery times
  • Higher amount of fat tissue sucked out per minute
  • Significantly lower risk of creating unevenness in the subcutaneous tissue
  • Gentler and less invasive movement of cannula in subcutaneous fat deposits
  • Reduced postoperative pain, bruising and swelling

Who is a good candidate for vibratory liposuction

In particular, liposuction is recommended to individuals who, due to hereditary predisposition, develop fat pads which do not respond to diet or regular exercise.

Before the procedure

If you consider a liposuction of arms, it is always necessary to undergo a non-binding initial consultation with a plastic surgeon, who will assess whether the procedure is right for you, explain the technique and the scope of the procedure, the type of anaesthesia, as well as the possible risks associated with the procedure. During the consultation you can ask any questions, in particular those related to the course of the liposuction, as well as your expectations and concerns about the liposuction results.

When making a binding appointment, you will be given and explained instructions on how to prepare for the liposuction, as well as information regarding eating, drinking, smoking and taking or withdrawing from certain medication. Compliance with all these instructions is necessary and will facilitate a smooth procedure and seamless healing after the liposuction.

How is liposuction of the arms performed

The procedure is usually performed under local or general anaesthesia. Saline solution also containing an anaesthetic and adrenaline is injected into the area of liposuction by means of a fine needle. This makes sure that the procedure is painless and bloodless. By means of a thin cannula with multiple openings which is inserted under the skin through small incisions, the adipose tissue is disintegrated and the released fat is sucked away by an aspirator. Vibration enhances and facilitates the movement and its scope can be adjusted as needed.

After the procedure

After vibratory liposuction of arms, you may temporarily experience bruises, swelling, numbness, itching, a burning sensation and pain. Early physiotherapy on the bed and out of the bed is recommended. Vibratory liposuction requires shorter recovery time. If the procedure targeted smaller areas, you may resume work within 2–3 days (unless heavy physical work is involved). In case of larger areas and their combinations, one week of rest is recommended but in none of these cases is the client confined to bed. On the contrary, walks are recommended, for example. Compression underwear is worn for just 4 weeks instead of the usual 6 weeks. It is imperative to restrict tanning for several months after the procedure.
