What is a dental veneer

A perfect Hollywood smile is a prerequisite of a natural good appearance and one of the main tasks of cosmetic dentistry is to provide the smile to their clients. One of the present-day possibilities is to provide the patient with adhesive porcelain veneers - thin shells of medical-grade ceramic that are attached to the front surfaces of teeth. Typically, six veneers are made for the front teeth (incisors and canine tooth) of the upper jaw. Usually, two appointments are enough to apply the veneers on otherwise healthy teeth.

Who should undergo the procedure

Veneers are used to change the color, size, form or position of a tooth or teeth. They are also used to conceal tooth enamel defects.

How are porcelain veneers applied

Veneers are applied to visible surfaces of teeth covering possible defects. It is a very fast method of creating an immediate tooth transformation. However, as a first step, any caries has to be removed, any fillings checked and repaired, if necessary, and any inflammation or gum disease treated.

After the procedure

Should veneer repair be needed, it can be done without touching other dental veneers.
