Diagnosis, treatment and prevention

Rheumatology deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of acute and chronic disorders of the locomotor system. These disorders are related to the diseases of the connective tissue, joints and vertebral column. Inflammatory joint diseases - arthritis, degenerative joint changes - arthrosis, diseases of the locomotor system caused by pathological infectious metabolic processes (boreliosis or gout) belong to the most common disorders. Rheumatologists also diagnose and treat bone density disorders - mostly osteoporosis. Rheumatology belongs to one of the fastest developing medical fields and disposes of a wide range of diagnostic and treatment options.

It also deals with a so-called “risk stratification for the development of systemic diseases”. This is a procedure where risk is assessed in patients with unclear complaints in whom the development of a systemic disease is considered.

The waiting time for this assessment is 1-3 weeks in the GHC Clinic Prague.
